Its always an honor to see your name in the contributors section. But it takes a real team effort to create images and photograph dreams. Big thanks to my team and all those anglers, editors, lodges, guides, booking agents and supporters who help make these images come to life.

Head on down to your local shop and grab yourself a print copy or order a dual subscription and get it on your iPad, you won’t be disappointed and won’t ever miss an issue.

GRAY’S SPORTING JOURNAL: PHOTO ESSAY // UNTOUCHED

PHOTO ESSSAY | SAINT BRANDONS ATOLL
6° 35’0.0”S 59° 40’0.0”E – North East of Mauritius

I’m thrilled to see the voyage to St. Brandon’s Atoll in the Mauritius made it to print. Each time I think about this incredible adventure with the crew at Flycastaway I still can’t believe it. What an incredible area, I had no idea places like this actually existed in reality. A journey I will always remember and a place I will always want to return to.

This essay is from my trip last year while on assignment for Yellow Dog Flyfishing Adventures with the amazing crew at Fly Castaway. It has been said the Cargados Carajos Shoals is very remote, way off-the-grid and is extremely difficult to get there. I couldn’t agree more.

Big thanks to William for letting me tag along with him on the flats with my camera and to my bunk mate Murray for putting up with all my gear, I’m glad we both had the same taste in room temperate!

Be sure to head down to your local shop and grab yourself a copy or better yet, order a subscription, you won’t be disappointed. This issue is packed with great articles and some impressive photo essays, its not one to be missed.

YELLOW DOG PHOTO SCHOOL | RECAP

PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP || FISH, PHOTO & TRAVEL
El Pescador, Belize

This past October we launched the Yellow Dog Flyfishing Adventures Photo Workshop series. This program focuses on fishing, travel and photography. For our first stop we chose Belize as it’s an easy location to gets to, has amazing scenery with a variety of opportunities to photograph. We teamed up with the folks at El Pescador Lodge, who took great care of our large group. We held daily presentations with cold beers and great tasting local finger food. A jam-packed itinerary followed a very detailed course curriculum that incorporated fun daily field assignments. It was exciting to see the progression of the participants each day as we toured the towns, snorkeled in the reserve and fished the famed Savannah flats. The weather was dramatic at times and only a few of us somehow dodged the down poor. All in all it was a great experience and a huge success. This is the first of many and I am looking forward to the upcoming 2017 lineup.

LOUISIANA TRIP | FIELD ASSIGNMENT

LOUISIANA TRIP RECAP
New Orleans and Redfish

It was great to see the sights and sounds of New Orleans. I wish I had more time to explore the city and the rich culture but it was great to have a cup of Joe and a beignet at world famous Café Du Monde and observe the colorful scenery of Bourbon street. We found a few redfish, ate a few spicy crawdads, saw some gators and even tossed out a hand-line. All in all it was a pretty amazing trip and I look forward to returning one day.

For more on the trip and to book your trip be sure to check out the Yellow Dog Flyfishing Adventures trip report on the blog and the link to the complete stock image archives.

ST BRANDONS ATOLL | FIELD ASSIGNMENT

ST BRANDONS ATOLL RECAP
Middle of Nowhere, Indian Ocean

I just returned from an inspiring trip to the Indian Ocean and ST Brandon’s Atoll, what an incredible adventure. I never knew a place like that existed. It was very inspiring to see a healthy fishery and ecosystem that is still intact. The wade fishing for bonefish was as incredible. It’s an ocean safari of animals and birds that I’ve never seen before. It’s not a place for everyone, a long journey filed with flights and a massive ocean crossing. We had a great captain and the 15-foot seas for 24+ hours didn’t seem so bad. Hats off to the FlyCasway team for showing me their amazing office. Thanks for your hospitality!
