SOUTHWEST MONTANA TOUR | FIELD ASSIGNMENT
Yellow Dog Flyfishing Adventures
Southwest Montana

Un-Pack and Re-Pack – that has been the motto the last few months and this is no exception. I just got home from Colorado that evening and by the morning I set out on a whirlwind road trip with the fellas at Yellow Dog Flyfishing Adventures. I joined the Western US program directors Shaun Lawson and Jake Wells for thier Southwestern Montana visitation tour. From the Madison to the Big Hole and a few rivers in between we saw a lot of amazing people. Montana truly has some great fishing. A big thanks you to all the lodges, outfitters, and amazing folks who housed and fed us. Next stop, home to edit, and un-pack and re-pack for the Pacific Northwest trip.

I jumped into the rig with Yellow Dog Flyfishing Adventures Shaun Lawson and Jake Wells. We headed to the famous Stonefly Inn located in Twin Bridges, Montana for an evening of good food and good tunes. It was a fantastic time – especially when Fink Carpenter started picking away on the guitar. You can’t beat a warm fire, good music and great fishing!

WANDERLUST PHOTO WORKSHOP

Henry’s Fork, Idaho

My friend and amazing outdoor clothing designer, Kim Brannock, called me about a creative fundraiser she was doing for her daughter’s school and was in need of participants. With the help of Patagonia ambassador Mille Paini and TroutHunter lodge we put together a fun Fish and Photo workshop on the famed Henry’s Fork River, a “what it takes to get it done in the field” so to speak. Ryan and Dennis were the lucky bidding winners and they showed up from Oregon with camera and fishing rods ready to go. We had some great light but battled tough fishing conditions and as always we made the best of times. The last day the fellas were rewarded with some great fishing and big fish, a bonus! We touched on the basics of photography but more so the technical little tricks and tips to get the shot. We nailed some great imagery and iconic enough, a few images that day have been selected to see print. A big thanks Ryan and Dennis and to Rich and Mille at TroutHunter and all the guides and staff, it was a great fundraiser for a great cause.
