A few new Hatch Outdoors Ads have been surfacing this spring season, its always great to see the fruits of our labor seeing the light of day.
These images always take a team effort, these two here were helped created with global guide Gabriel Gygax in Xcalak Mexico in the first photo and Tom Melvin of Yellow Dog Flyfishing Adventures in Caye Caulker Belize in the second image. Big thanks to all the anglers, manufacture, lodges, staff, guides, logistics agents, etc, who helped with the process, these images wouldn’t be created without your help and continued support. + Hatch Outdoors: http://www.hatchoutdoors.com/
EDITORIAL | THE FLYFISH JOURNAL 7.4 Published Editorial
It’s great to see his mug in print. This is a portrait of one of the fishiest, hardest working, most genuine people I know, my roommate, Rick Matney. All this and more from other great photographers and writers in the new issue of the FlyFish Journal.
Last year the crew set out to create a few new media campaigns for SAGE Flyfishing with both still images and motion for their new rod line-up. The fruits of our labor have started to trickle out from the SAGE Flyfish Camp this year. A few of the Ads went live this spring and I couldn’t be more pleased with the outcome.
I really enjoyed this project, it was never a dull moment! Hat’s off to the production crew who made this happen: Drew Stoecklein, Bobby Foster, Catie Webster, Mark Raisler, Headhunters Fly Shop and all the great folks at Sage Flyfish.
I was certainly happy to get the call to head to Southeast Alaska this past spring. This remote temperate rainforest is a place of adventure, wonder and some of the best wild steelhead fishing around. The weather, the climate, the tides, the terrain and just trying to get there also makes it one of the most vigorous angling exploits imaginable, the temperate rainforest is not for the faint of heart. However, besides the constant uphill battle, this is also one of the most thrilling adventures a fly angler can have! It was a fun week of crab, prawns, and steelhead. I can’t wait to return.

In the latest issue of American Angler Magazine this image accompanies author James P. Spica Jr.’s article “Going Dark” where he explores fishing at night for monster trout. Its great to see this image of Jon Stiehl in print.
The new Patagonia Fish Catalog arrived in the mail yesterday and I couldn’t be more pleased to see a few familiar faces along with many friends. A big thank you to all those folks who allow me to follow them around with my camera and document small significant moments of your life.
