OTHER SIDE OF THE LENS | PATAGONIA FLY FISH AD

TOUGH PUFF PRINT AD
Olympic Peninsula, Washington

At one time in my career, I was in front of the lens, pictured on a few covers, a couple of commercial ads, and in editorial publications. That seems so long ago. These days, I am mostly behind the lens, documenting anglers and their lifestyles and journeys. I am usually pretty good at avoiding the other end of the camera, but every now and again I get photographed. So you might say I was very surprised to see the new Patagonia Fish Ad for the new Tough Puff was of a photo of me!

This image was shot by Patagonia Ambassador Eric Paulson while we were on assignment for a shoot. I didn’t know he was quietly sniping photos while I was trying to navigate what seemed to be miles of log jams. It was already a fun trip so this image is icing on the cake. Nice shooting, Eric!

Check out their site for more information on the
new Tough Puff from Patagonia you won’t be disappointed.

HATCH OUTDOORS AD | TFFJ 2015

HATCH OUTDOORS AD | TFFJ 2015
Cayo Largo, Cuba

A new Hatch Outdoors Ad hits print in winter issue of the The FlyFish Journal. This image was created on the pristine flats of Cuba with Tom Melvin and Avalon fishing guide Keinlert… and of course a Hatch 7+ Plus. We got really lucky, and had great fishing for the shoot. And yes, real actual fish were actually caught for the creation of this shoot.

HATCH OUTDOORS SUMMER AD
Seen in The FlyFish Journal 2015

It’s not all blue skies and calm seas when on location. You can’t predict the weather, or the fish, ever. When you’re in the business of getting the shot regardless, well, this was one of those days when you make it happen. Flat light, blowing wind, choppy water are no match for great attitudes, good anglers and impressive guides.

This image here was shot at Turneffe Flats. Guide “Dubs” poling in nuking wind getting Mille Paini into position to make the cast. The stars aligned and we were able to nail the shots wee needed. Ironically, many images from this day made it to commercial Ad or editorial prints.  A great team effort!
