FLY FISHING PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP | BELIZE 2019

YELLOW DOG FLYFISHING ADVENTURES ON-THE-WATER PHOTO WORKSHOP
El Pescador Lodge // Ambergris Caye, Belize

Bryan Gregson Photography, Jim Klug and Yellow Dog Flyfishing Adventures are pleased to announce the continuation and expansion of their popular fly fishing photography schools and workshops. These “On-the-Water Workshops” are designed for photographers of all skill levels and are a great chance for experienced shooters and aspiring photographers alike to join Yellow Dog instructors for a hands-on, adventure-filled outdoor and fishing photography workshop in the field. In November of 2019, our team of adventure angling photographers will once again lead an in-depth and immersive workshop on Ambergris Caye, Belize – one of our favorite destinations for photography. As with our previous schools, this year’s workshop will include daily classes, personalized instruction, field trips, guided fishing, all lodging, and meals.

Our On-the-Water Photography Workshops were created to offer a hands-on learning experience built around real-time fishing, travel and outdoor scenarios. These workshops are taught by working professionals who specialize in adventure angling and off-the-grid travel. Whether a participant is an advanced shooter or someone who is new to photography, this is a curriculum that provides the opportunity for shooters to “up their game” by delivering the tips and tools necessary to create great images. Each participant has the help of an instructor with almost every shot, creating a solid educational experience for all levels.

ANCHORED WITH APRIL VOKEY: PODCAST

ANCHORED WITH APRIL VOKEY: PODCAST
episode #133

I had the fortunate opportunity to sit down with world-renowned angler April Vokey in Flordia to record an episode of her Anchored podcast. We had just finished shooting an episode of Das Boat and found ourselves held up with the rest of the crew in Orlando for the ICAST trade show, a perfect time for a podcast. It was undoubtedly humbling to be asked to sit down and talk fishing, life, and photography. Take a listen – I hope you enjoy it.

“In this episode of Anchored, I was finally able to get Bryan on the show to share a little about his compelling life and career. Bryan is incredibly private and I’m thankful he was willing to take the time to share his story in hopes it may inspire others to work hard for their dreams.”

DAS BOAT – NEW SERIES FROM THE MEATEATER FISHING DEPT.

DAS BOAT, SERIES
Introducing MeatEater’s First Original Fishing Series

We couldn’t be more thrilled to be apart of the Off The Grid Studios team that produced the new fishing series for MeatEater, Inc. It was a few months of long field days, brutal heat, insane humidity, overheating batteries, a few police officers (love you guys), angry non-Florida country club locals, biting bugs, sleepless nights, boiled peanuts, great memories, wonderful people, breathtaking views, wild nature, and interesting characters.

This project was nothing short of an incredible adventure with a remarkable crew. There were so many people that helped make this series run smoothly, you all know who you are. Thank you!

One boat, five fisheries, ten anglers, 2500 miles…unlimited bad ideas. In this new series, Das Boat, MeatEater revives an old aluminum boat from a backyard in Texas and explores angling opportunities with some of our favorite folks. The first episode of Das Boat aired on August 15th on YouTube and Facebook. New episodes come out every Thursday. Yes, it’s FREE!

SAGE FLY FISH FILM: THE MISFIT SAVIORS

SAGE FLY FISH: THE MISFIT SAVIORS
Trout Season 2019

It was an honor to be a part of the Sage Fly Fish 2019 Trout Season project, The Misfit Saviors. The Henry’s Fork River is a special place for me personally. It has as much to do with the people as it does with the river. There have been so many gracious people that have helped me along the way. I wouldn’t be pursuing this line of work without each of them. I must admit, it was a bit nerve-racking being on the other side of the lens!

It was a real pleasure working with the director and cinematographer, R.C. Cone, and his crew. They were more than courteous and professional, as expected.

Hats off to all those who were involved. Thank you.

Sage Fly Fish Film, The Misfit Saviors
“Returning to his roots in the Rockies, Bryan Gregson mastered photography & cinematography in the winter action sports industry under the tutelage of some of the top mountain shooters. After a series of injuries, and with unique help of the Henry’s Fork community, he then turned the lens to capturing fly fishing and adventure around the globe. This is the story of Bryan’s journey and the cast of misfit saviors that helped to keep the dream alive.”

NEW FILM “NEXGEN” PREMIERING AT FLY FISHING FILM TOUR 2019

NEXGEN + 2019 F3t FILM TOUR TEASER
Off the Grid Studios

Off the Grid Studios is pleased to announce a new film — “NexGen.” With support from the Orvis Company, Scientific Anglers, and WorldCast Anglers, the latest from Off the Grid Studios will premiere on the 2019 Fly Fishing Film Tour.

In “NexGen,” filmmaker RA Beattie tells the story of generational bonds and friendships formed through fly fishing. In the film, Beattie offers a new perspective, as the film is told from the point of view and with the narration of Jack Buccola — a 12-year-old angler from Bend, Oregon. The film follows Jack as he experiences living in a fly fisherman’s house, witnesses the impact of fires on his home waters, and explores new waters on a road trip with his father Ryan, friend Judd Field, and Judd’s father Pete. Throughout the journey, Jack grows to appreciate the steelhead of the Northwest, the native cutthroat trout found on the South Fork of the Snake River and other tributaries, and Jack also realizes the potential for more travel with a tying business.

“Our 2019 production ‘NexGen’ takes viewers along for a ride on a more attainable, grassroots adventure here at home in the American West,” explains Beattie. “I’m very proud of our entire team and excited to bring the young cast, epic eats, and stunning nature scenes to the big screen in theaters around the world.”

“NexGen” will be featured on the 2019 Fly Fishing Film Tour, which begins Jan. 19, 2019, in Bozeman, Montana. This is the 16th film from Off the Grid Studios/Beattie Outdoors Productions in the Fly Fishing Film Tour, and the filmmakers have had official selections in the Fly Fishing Film Tour since the event began 13 years ago.

“NexGen” was directed, edited, and produced by RA Beattie, produced and filmed by Bryan Gregson, written by Sarah Grigg and Tim Harden, filmed and edited by Will Phelps, and audio engineered by Troy Hermes, with still photography from Arian Stevens. Marko Milosevic contributed the graphics.

FLY FISHING PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOPS 2017
FISH . PHOTO . TRAVEL
Belize, Idaho, Cuba

Join Yellow Dog Flyfishing Adventures for a hands-on, adventure-filled outdoor and fishing photography workshop in 2017. We have a great line-up of instructors this year, making it a great opportunity to travel with us to Belize, Idaho or Cuba! This immersive workshop will be led by our highly accomplished team of adventure angling photographers. The school includes daily classes, in-the-field instruction, field trips, and all lodging and meals!

The idea for the Yellow Dog Flyfishing Adventures on-the-water photo workshop was to create a hands on workshop that is taught by working professionals who specialize in adventure angling. We constructed a learning experience built around real time scenarios. Let’s face it: the light is rarely perfect when you finally catch the fish of a lifetime or finally take that once in a lifetime trip. Everyone wants to come home with those special moments. With this in mind, we created a curriculum that provides you with the necessary tools to create great images! The detailed instructional lesson plan is directly applied from the classroom into the field. Each participant has the help of an instructor with almost every shot. It’s a great educational experience for all levels.

Everyone! Whether you just purchased your first camera and are wondering what all those buttons are for or you’re a seasoned amateur to intermediate photographer wanting to make the most of your fishing and travel photography, this workshop will advance your skill level and improve your photos in the field. The Venturing Angler Interview, March 2016

I’ve had this on my desk for a few years now, and I finally got around to finishing it. As always, I never know what to say and I never really feel comfortable talking about myself. But hopefully you will get some entertainment out of it and a glimpse of how I see life through my view finder. Thank you for the continued support, The Venturing Angler.

PATAGONIA CATALOG | SPRING 2015

PATAGONIA CATALOG | SPRING 2015
Las Pampas, Chubut, Argentina

I’m very excited to see an image in the new 2015 Patagonia catalog. This image was taken in one of my favorite places, Las Pampas in rural Argentina. We had hiked in a remote trail down to the river. It started out a blue bird day and by ends it was raining sideways. We stumbled on the old gauchos working the cattle. They wanted to chat, so we did, in the pouring rain. Here Oggy talks fishing with the locals. What an adventure!

On this particular trip the crew consisted of Patagonia’s Bart Bonime and Dexter Levandoski. An exploratory trip that has morphed into an upcoming conservation film with Travis Lowe titled Finding Fontinalis, showing in 2016. This was also the trip that sparked the idea on establishing the upcoming creation of “Fundacion Truchas Patagonia”. Stay tuned for more exciting stuff coming out of the Patagonia Fish camp.
