SWEETWATER BREWING CO | IMAGERY: SAVE OUR WATER CAMPAIGN

SAVE OUR WATER
Giving $100,000 To Protect Our Right To Clean Water And Tasty Beer

We are proud to have helped select an image for part of SweetWater Brewing Company’s new campaign. On June 1st they launched a 10th anniversary Save Our Water campaign. When we were approached with the parameters of “a great action shot of an authentic trout bum fishing a river” we sifted through hard-drives taking a hard look at the authenticity and the color palate of the overall image. This was the road we followed while high grading until the final edits. Color, or the lack of, has many great mood qualities that instill a sense of tone and authentic talent produces credibility. Add in some of nature’s great lighting, and you have a distinctive image. We couldn’t be more pleased with the final outcome and hope this will help the client reach their goals.

HERE IS HOW YOU CAN HELP: DONATE THE PRICE OF A BEER, OR TWO, TODAY

This summer SweetWater Brewing Company has include five partner organizations. SweetWater will donate $100,000 and promote a matching funds effort, with the goal of raising an additional $100,000. Save Our Water kicks off June 1 and runs through Labor Day.  For details on each partner and the history of Save Our Water, please see below.

EDITORIAL | TROUT MAGAZINE | TABLE OF CONTENTS
Spring 2016

The new issue of TROUT magazine is hot off the press. I’m thrilled and humbled to have landed the Table of Contents image. This is a photo of a wild sea run rainbow/steelhead from an incredible place that needs to be protected, The Tongass National Forest.

You can get your copy a few different ways. Often your local angling shop will have them or you can get it free with your Trout Unlimited membership. I am member of Trout Unlimited. TU’s conservation and restoration work in and around my home waters is vital for the survival of an ecosystem and native species such as the Cutthroat Trout. For that I am very thankful and one of the reasons I donate. What’s your reason?

About the Image:
A blustery winters day might seen insignificant to non-anglers, however, in countless areas such as the Henry’s Fork River it can cause quite a stir amongst the fish relishing a healthy hatch. About the image
This image is a perfect example of what can be accomplished with what some would call a “mediocre” camera,  I say its just less expensive. I captured this image of my buddy, Scott Dickey, on freezing morning on the Middle Section of the renowned Provo River, with a *gasp* less expensive camera. I cost a few hundred bucks is all, which is awfully cheap in the camera World. I didn’t have all the latest and greatest in camera equipment: no high-end DSLR, no prime ‘L” glass, no fancy filters, over priced tripod sticks or expensive ball-heads. I just had a camera, superb scenery and crazy friends willing to dawn patrol in sub-zero temps for a few images. Does high-end gear make it easier for me to get my day-to-day job done, of course it does. But you don’t need all of that to create and capture a great image.

Check out some of Scott’s adventures and flies. A few of these are staples in my box!

TROUT Magazine | Published FALL13

Happy to see a few of my images grace the pages of the fall 2013 issue of TROUT Magazine.
I’ve been very fortunate as a photographer to work with legit professional anglers who really get it done. No fancy bells and whistles, no acting, just pure clean fishing and a lot of fun. I’m also lucky they are so patient with me!
