Chinook Salmon (or King Salmon) in full colors is a beautiful sight to see. These fish have only one job: to travel back to spawn and to die. They unselfishly and willingly give up their life so the next generations can survive and the ecosystem can utilize its decaying body to gain nutrients. The cycle of life, it is so fragile.

This is one of my favorite shoots that I look forward to every year. The fishing is great, the scenery is superb and the local people are the salt of the Earth. It’s the people that bring me back year after year. The culture, spirit and tradition of the old world are still alive and well.

Ol’ Henry got it right, but I’ve already knew it since a kid …. “Many men go fishing all of their lives without knowing that it is not fish they are after.” … But sometimes I get too busy and forget, that is until I visit the quieter parts of the World, where time stops and Mother Nature roams free.

John Hudgens releasing a native perca (Percichthys Trucha) from the Limay River, Argentina. It was great to see one of the few native species. We had a great day fishing and creating images with Ron Sorenson of Chocolate Lab Expeditions.

The Perca is an interesting fish, a modern fish some say… so like a Perch Bass Trout?

“Grouped under the common name existed four endemic percíctidos Patagonia: Percichthys trout and Percichthys vincigerrai (smallmouth bass), Percichthys colhuapiensis (largemouth bass) and Percichthys laevis . Modern DNA analysis techniques, resolved the questions of classification and determined that there is a single species in Argentina (Percichthys trout).”
