I’m always excited to see the final outcome of all the hard work that went into the shoot. We were hired as the principal photographer for the new 3M Scott First Responder marketing advertisement campaign. It was fun to be on the same famous Holywood set where projects including Iron Man 2, American Sniper and many others were filmed.
Big thanks to Paul Bourcq at Drift Media Productions, the Follow North/Northern Creative Consulting Agency, and the entire talent and crew for a successful collaborative effort. We couldn’t do any of this without you.
PHOTO ESSAY | ANDROS ISLAND 24° 25′ 59.99″ N -77° 56′ 59.99″ W – North Andros
I traveled around North Andros in the Bahamas with Ian Davis with the purpose of wade fishing for bonefish. One of the many great things about fly fishing on Andros Island is the extensive wading options. In certain areas, utilizing the tides, you can fish wade for bonefish all day with a just a spool of tippet, and a handful of flies. It’s also always a good idea to have a ‘cuda rod handy. The barracuda are also hunting bonefish. When planning what to bring, it also doesn’t hurt to toss in a few local Kalik beers for the celebratory ride home after a fun day of flats fishing. Big thanks to guides Solomon Murphy and Phillip Rolle for working hard to help us get into fish and the images.
This issue is packed with great articles and some impressive photo essays, it’s not one to be missed.
Be sure to head down to your local shop and grab yourself a copy or better yet, order a subscription, you won’t be disappointed.
YELLOW DOG FLYFISHING ADVENTURES ON-THE-WATER PHOTO WORKSHOP El Pescador Lodge // Ambergris Caye, Belize
Bryan Gregson Photography, Jim Klug and Yellow Dog Flyfishing Adventuresare pleased to announce the continuation and expansion of their popular fly fishing photography schools and workshops. These “On-the-Water Workshops” are designed for photographers of all skill levels and are a great chance for experienced shooters and aspiring photographers alike to join Yellow Dog instructors for a hands-on, adventure-filled outdoor and fishing photography workshop in the field. In November of 2019, our team of adventure angling photographers will once again lead an in-depth and immersive workshop on Ambergris Caye, Belize – one of our favorite destinations for photography. As with our previous schools, this year’s workshop will include daily classes, personalized instruction, field trips, guided fishing, all lodging, and meals.
Our On-the-Water Photography Workshops were created to offer a hands-on learning experience built around real-time fishing, travel and outdoor scenarios. These workshops are taught by working professionals who specialize in adventure angling and off-the-grid travel. Whether a participant is an advanced shooter or someone who is new to photography, this is a curriculum that provides the opportunity for shooters to “up their game” by delivering the tips and tools necessary to create great images. Each participant has the help of an instructor with almost every shot, creating a solid educational experience for all levels.

Jim’s new podcast was created for those that fish and for those that travel to fish. Dive into the what, why, where and how of destination angling, discussing relevant topics and breaking down the issues that matter to those who travel and fish.
It was undoubtedly humbling to be asked to sit down and talk fishing, life, and photography. Take a listen – I hope you enjoy it.

WHITE RIVER FLY SHOP CATALOG 2019 Table of Contents
As a photographer, there is just something personally gratifying about holding an image on paper. This photo in the White River Fly Shop catalog brings back so many great memories of the adventure, comradery, and experience.
The first time I saw this area I was elated to see this how crystal clear this Argentine spring creek was. Then I saw the colors of the fish who call this water home. I still remember how excited I felt, I couldn’t wait to get my camera underwater. Luckily a few fish were caught, a few images were captured, a few lifelong memories were forged.
Earlier this year Patagonia Ambassador Eric Paulson and I were commissioned to take the new Patagonia boots from Danner into the field. I always like shooting with Eric, it’s hard work, fast-paced, everyone knows their role and its never ever a dull moment. From knocking out teeth to torrential downpours, we seem to never time the weather right but we always return with new fishing stories of adventure and a few new images.
I’ve had the opportunity to collaborate with Rick Matney of Wild Game Chef to photograph his incredible cooking. Rick is a contributor to MeatEater, Inc and he was in need of images to accompany and showcase his recipes. Fortunately for me, and my taste buds, Rick is also my roommate. Needless to say, it has been a great co-lab success.

I had the fortunate opportunity to sit down with world-renowned angler April Vokey in Flordia to record an episode of her Anchored podcast. We had just finished shooting an episode of Das Boat and found ourselves held up with the rest of the crew in Orlando for the ICAST trade show, a perfect time for a podcast. It was undoubtedly humbling to be asked to sit down and talk fishing, life, and photography. Take a listen – I hope you enjoy it.
Anchored with April Vokey, Podcast: ep. 133 “In this episode of Anchored, I was finally able to get Bryan on the show to share a little about his compelling life and career. Bryan is incredibly private and I’m thankful he was willing to take the time to share his story in hopes it may inspire others to work hard for their dreams.”
SAGE FLY FISH: TROUT SEASON, 2019 Commercial Ad Campaign, Photography
We were excited when we received the call from our good friends over at Sage Fly Fishing to be part of their 2019 Trout Season campaign. The campaign consisted of a few parts and we were happy to be a small part of the big picture. The images are to accompany beautifully written words from writer Chris Dombrowski and a film from R.C. Cone/Tributary Digital Cinema. The theme was the Henry’s Fork — the surrounding people and places within the Yellowstone caldera and overall Western fly fishing. It was an honor to be part of this project.
Tucked back in the nook of the Yellowstone Caldera is what I call a beautiful slice of heaven. Over the years I’ve grown to deeply love this small little place with a mighty river. Although my camera often times takes me to far off places to document amazing fisheries, I always think of the Henry’s Fork and the friends who call it home. Thanks to all those that let me tag along on your adventures over the years and for letting me stick a camera in your face.
