FINDING FONTINALIS | FLY FISHING FILM TOUR CUT

FINDING FONTINALIS | FLY FISHING FILM TOUR CUT
F3T Film Trout 2016

Cinema Digital just released a cut of a new feature film titled Finding Fontinals. The film cut debuts on the 2016 F3T: Fly Fishing Film Tour. Check out the teaser and see the special cut of the film at a F3T screening nearest you.

Finding Fontinalis
“An old gaucho’s tale inspired the search for a new world-record brook trout; but the water, landscape and the culture surrounding it became the impetus to conserve and protect it all. This F3T cut of Finding Fontinalis, a new feature film from Travis Lowe (coming fall 2016) takes you to the heart of Patagonia and one of the last remaining, world class brook trout fisheries. Featuring Bart Bonime, Bryan Gregson, Agustin Fox and Yvon Chouinard, Finding Fontinalis exposes you to both jaw-dropping landscapes and hook-jawed trout.”

A SERIES OF BLACK AND WHITE PHOTOGRAPHS

A SERIES OF BLACK AND WHITE PHOTOGRAPHS
A few Black and White moments from my life on the road

+Las Pampas, Argentina Argentine Gaucho, Jonathan Nunis, observes the outcome of his trusty calving rope work. Jonathan is one of the few old World gauchos, the last of his kind. It’s very much a fragile way of life in the new realm of technology, power and greed. I’ve never felt so humbled, so welcomed, so very small and insignificant in the big small world. It’s my hope their way of life continues forever.

+Remote backcountry, Argentina Yvon Chouinard studying maps of the expedition in his tent. Andes Mountains, Argentina. This image represents my childhood dream and my childhood hero. A good role model and hero can make a difference, especially for the youngsters. It could be anyone really, a parent, a friend, someone who over came the odds, maybe a neighbor, perhaps a coach, an explorer, probably someone with a backbone that created positive change, it could be anyone with integrity, guts and bravery. These types follow their own quest, which is more often than not, the hard road. They fail but get back up and keep on going with their integrity and spine in tact, and they instill the seed of chance in others. Decades later I was the middle of the Andes Mountains gearing up for a big adventure. Ironically my childhood hero was also on the expedition team. I feel very fortunate to have captured this moment, for me it’s an internal lifetime accomplishment. It was also an inspiring moment, solidifying with certainty; the only limitations are those we put on ourselves. You can do anything you want to, you just have to actually want to do it. The champ is still going hard, still following his dreams, and still forging his own path. And its not everyday you get to bring your childhood hero on an expedition and take his picture when he’s not looking. Thirty-years later, I’m inspired once again.

2015 LAS PAMPAS LODGE CATALOG | ARGENTINA

NEW 2015 LAS PAMPAS LODGE CATALOG IS HOT OFF THE PRESS!
Published, Commercial Catalog

This is one of my favorite shoots that I look forward to every year. The fishing is great, the scenery is superb and the local people are the salt of the Earth. It’s the people that bring me back year after year. The culture, spirit and tradition of the old world are still alive and well.

Ol’ Henry got it right, but I’ve already knew it since a kid …. “Many men go fishing all of their lives without knowing that it is not fish they are after.” … But sometimes I get too busy and forget, that is until I visit the quieter parts of the World, where time stops and Mother Nature roams free.

PATAGONIA | FILM WORK

Last summer I had the opportunity to do some film and photo work for Patagonia. Nothing fancy,  capture b-roll and shoot still images. You never know what will get used, so its always a pleasant surprise to see the final production.  It’s great to live those moments again. It was a great chance to work with so many great people, some long time friends and somehow ones.

Yvon and Mazzo | Patagonia Books Footage

I was able to help capture footage for Yvon Chouinard and Maru Mazzo for their upcoming new book, Simple Fly Fishing Techniques for Tenkara and Rod & Reel for A tid-bit of footage used. It was great to spend the day with Yvon and Maru. I enjoy every opportunity I get to spend time YC. It’s inspiring to me talk to a person who does what he says and lives what he leads: A dirtbag in every sense of the word.

Patagonia Women’s Waders | Millie Paini

New women’s Patagonia waders are now available. I’m very happy able to work with Millie Paini throughout the year. It’s really cool to see a company support woman’s anglers. The new folks might not remember but a long time ago, Millie was the poster woman for Patagonia women’s waders. Decade later, she still here, still fishing hard and still making products better for women. The “drop-down” has been in talks for many years mainly due to techniques used when fishing with men out of drift boats and flats boats, etc.  I was excited to be able to work with film-maker Travis Lowe ( http://springcreekfilm.com/travis-lowe/ ) for Millie’s segment on the Henry’s Fork.  The new 2014 Women’s waders and line up is made by angling women for angling women, ladies be sure to check it out.
