I’m proud to be a small part for the new Patagonia 2014 facelift. Big thanks to the ambassadors and anglers whom I work with. Without their commitment, ambition and love for the waterways I wouldn’t have anything to take photos of.
Last summer I had the opportunity to do some film and photo work for Patagonia. Nothing fancy, capture b-roll and shoot still images. You never know what will get used, so it’s always a pleasant surprise to see the final production. It’s great to live those moments again. It was a great chance to work with so many great people, some long time friends, and somehow ones.
Patagonia Books Footage | Yvon Chouinard and Maru Mazzo
I was able to help capture footage for Yvon Chouinard and Maru Mazzo for their upcoming new book, Simple Fly Fishing Techniques for Tenkara and Rod & Reel for A tidbit of the footage used. It was great to spend the day with Yvon and Maru. I enjoy every opportunity I get to spend time YC. It’s inspiring to me talk to a person who does what he says and lives what he leads: A dirtbag in every sense of the word.
New women’s Patagonia waders are now available. I’m very happy to able to work with Millie Paini throughout the year. It’s really cool to see a company support woman’s anglers. The new folks might not remember but a long time ago, Millie was the poster woman for Patagonia women’s waders. A decade later, she still here, still fishing hard and still making products better for women. The “drop-down” has been in talks for many years mainly due to techniques used when fishing with men out of drift boats and flats boats, etc. I was excited to be able to work with film-maker Travis Lowe for Millie’s segment on the Henry’s Fork. The new 2014 Women’s waders line up is made by angling women for angling women.
I’m very happy to see these photos make it to print. That was such an amazing trip, it’s always fun to relive those moments again. These images were taken at Casa Blanca & Playa Blanca Fishing Lodges in the Yucatan with Patagonia Ambassador – Millie Jo Paini.

I’ve been very fortunate as a photographer to work with legit professional anglers who really get it done. No fancy bells and whistles, no acting, just pure clean fishing and a lot of fun. I’m also lucky they are so patient with me!

I’ve had the pleasure of working with Millie for the past 4 years. We’ve shot on locations from Belize to the Yucatan to her home Western waters. She’s a true professional in every sense of the meaning. I’m very proud to see her accept the Ambassador position at Patagonia.
I’m very excited to see one of my images on the new Spring 2013 cover of the The Drake Magazine!! It’s been a great publication for many years, one that I eagerly look forward too as both a fisherman and photographer. For me its a humbling honor for any of my images to make into print ,and making the cover has always been a lifetime goal of mine.
This image below is of good friend ,and phenomenal angler, Millie Jo Paini fishing her beloved Henry’s Fork river. It was a great hatch that day and both Mille and husband Rich were out doing what they both love to do, “play the game ” (dry fly fishing) on the famous Railroad ranch section. There are a few other goodies inside from BGP, including a little somethin’ somethin’ by friends Johnny Pares and Rita Rose Adams on dry fly bonefish from a recent trip to Casa and Playa Blanca in the Yucatan. The shot was very challenging for many reasons. It didn’t come easy and we spend days trying to get it. After dozens of hook-ups and we finally managed to get a few that really show the fully open mouth of a Bonefish trying to eat from the surface. It was one of the most amazing fly fishing experiences I’ve seen. I know I won’t look at bonefish the same way ever again. Rounding out the issue is buddy Tom Watkins over at the good ol’ TroutHunter freezing on the pages in the spectrum section. Nothing like a brisk mid-winters day of fishing on the Henry’s Fork. Huge thanks all the anglers for doing what you do and letting me document it with my camera, without you these images and adventures would never happen.
